PINAFORE is a high-quality seed mix for lawns and golf greens created by DLF Trifolium in Denmark. The mix includes 10% perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne), 10% red fescue (Festuca rubra trichopylla PINAFORE), and 10% the same variety but from a different manufacturer (Festuca rubra trichopylla BEUDIN). Additionally, the mix contains 10% improved red fescue (Festuca rubra commutata GREENMILE), 15% another variety of improved red fescue (Festuca rubra commutata Wagner1), and 15% meadow fescue (Poa pratensis dakisha). For denser coverage, an additional 15% meadow fescue (Poa pratensis borsala/MIRACLE) and 5% creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera KROMI/COBRA NOVA) have been added.
The sowing rate is 4 kg per 100 m², ensuring a dense and even cover. Seeds should be thoroughly mixed, sown into dry ripe soil, then rolled and deeply incorporated (1–1.5 cm). Ample watering is required on the second day after sowing. Sowing seasons: spring (April–May), autumn (August–September), and winter option (October–November).
Seedlings emerge at different times: ryegrass – 12–14 days, fescue – 4–5 days, meadow fescue – 22–25 days. Dense cover forms by 28–30 days after sowing. First mowing is recommended at 4 cm height, subsequent mowings at 3.5–5 cm (not less than 4–5 cm during dry seasons). To maintain lawn health, fertilizer is applied at 3.5–4 kg/100 m² at establishment, and 1.5–2 kg/100 m² for top-dressing.
PINAFORE is suitable for both sports fields and private gardens and lawns. Thanks to the diversity of grass species in the mix, high resistance to wear, good flowering density, and an attractive appearance of the lawn are achieved.
