Trubetchinskiy Local is a variety of red (meadow) clover belonging to the legume grass group. This perennial clover variety is an excellent nectar-producing plant that attracts bees for collecting nectar and pollen, and is also a valuable green feed widely used for producing clover hay. Trubetchinskiy Local clover is characterized by a two-cropping cycle of development, which ensures its stability and productivity under various growing conditions.
Clover is demanding in terms of moisture, however it does not tolerate excess water, therefore it develops optimally on loam and sandy loam soils, as well as on chernozem soils. In the first year of life, a rosette forms at the base of the plant, and flowering stems appear only from the second year. Under normal conditions, from the second year onwards clover begins to flower and bear fruit regularly, providing a stable yield. The lifespan of the plant varies depending on growing conditions and can range from 2 to 15 years, and sometimes reaches 25 years.
For successful cultivation of the Trubetchinskiy Local variety, a seed rate of about 0.5 kg per 100 m² is recommended. This variety is suitable for growing in various regions, including Vladimir, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Moscow, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tula, Voronezh, Kursk, Lipetsk, Orel, Tambov regions, as well as Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, Omsk regions, Altai Republic, Tomsk and Tyumen regions. The originator of the variety is the Federal Scientific Center All-Russian Research Institute of Oilseed Crops named after V.S. Pushovoyta.
