Smooth brome Antei

Siberian Durability for Forage Lands

Smooth brome grass (Bromus inermis) variety 'Antey' is the result of long-term breeding by the Siberian scientific community (RAS). This variety was developed for conditions where many European analogues fail under the pressure of harsh winters and extreme temperature fluctuations. Its key feature is phenomenal winter hardiness and the ability to regrow rapidly in early spring.

Agronomic Profile

This variety is versatile in its application, making it a strategic choice for both large-scale livestock operations and professional landscaping:

• Forage Production: Provides a stable, high yield of green mass and high-quality hay. 'Antey' offers excellent palatability for livestock due to its balanced foliage and high nutritional value.
• Turf Usage: Thanks to its powerful root system, the variety actively forms a dense sod that effectively suppresses weeds. Unlike many lawn grasses, it possesses high drought resistance, allowing it to be used in park zones and territories without regular irrigation systems.

Strengths and Weaknesses

'Antey' is a workhorse for regions with risky agriculture. Its main advantages are its longevity (retaining productivity for up to 10 years in the same location) and its tolerance to trampling. However, it is worth noting that like any high-yielding smooth brome, it requires adequate nitrogen fertilization to reach its full potential. During moisture deficits, growth rates may slow down, although the overall survival of the crop remains impeccable.

This variety is the optimal choice for farmers focused on creating long-term pastures with minimal investment in annual reseeding, as well as for landscapers working in climate-challenged environments.
