Smooth brome FACEL

Sustainable Forage for Long-Term Farming

The 'Fakelny' smooth brome cultivar stands as a cornerstone in modern forage production, developed by the V.R. Williams FRC of Fodder Crops. Recognized for its exceptional longevity, this perennial grass remains productive for 10–15 years, offering farmers a cost-effective solution for permanent pastures and hayfields. Its reputation is built on reliability and consistency, making it a preferred choice for large-scale livestock operations.

Agronomic Performance

Reaching heights of 100–120 cm, the 'Fakelny' variety produces a robust biomass capable of yielding 7–10 tons of hay per hectare. Beyond quantity, the quality remains a top priority: the crop consistently maintains a protein content of 12–16%. This nutritional profile is essential for maintaining healthy, high-performing livestock, ensuring that the harvested hay serves as a high-value feed component.

Disease Resistance and Market Position

One of the defining features of this variety is its inherent resistance to helminthosporiosis. In regions where fungal pressure can degrade forage quality, 'Fakelny' maintains a healthy stand, significantly reducing the reliance on chemical treatments. By minimizing production risks and ensuring long-term field stability, this variety has secured its place as a standard in professional forage management.
