Fescue Prestige

Technical Profile of the 'Prestige' Fescue

Developed through a collaborative breeding program involving the N.I. Vavilov Institute of Plant Genetic Resources (VIR) and the Nemchinovka Research Center, this fescue variety is engineered specifically for functional and ornamental turf management. The core value of 'Prestige' lies in its refined morphology, where physiological traits are strictly optimized for building a dense, wear-resistant sward.

Morphological Adaptation and Plant Architecture

The generative shoots reach a height of 40–60 cm. This is a critical parameter in turfgrass science: a moderate growth height maintains aesthetic value even under infrequent mowing cycles, as the plant minimizes vegetative vertical elongation, directing metabolic energy toward tillering and maintaining high turf density.

• Sward Density: The cultivar develops a robust root system that ensures rapid ground cover establishment and effectively prevents soil erosion.
• Application: Primarily used as a key component for parterre and park-style lawns that require durability against moderate foot traffic.
• Genetic Integrity: The pedigree, managed by the VIR and the Nemchinovka Research Center, ensures line purity, which is essential for consistent color and uniform growth rates across the entire seeding area.

The practical application of 'Prestige' is optimal for temperate regions where a balance between aesthetic appeal (fine leaf texture) and resilience is required. Its low susceptibility to lodging ensures the turf maintains a clean, uniform appearance even under fluctuating climatic conditions.
