Lyudmila

Ludmila is a decorative perennial from the Grass family, the Festuca Walberla variety, characterized by a compact habitus and resilience to adverse climatic conditions. The plant reaches a height of 20–30 cm and a width of up to 30 cm, forming dense round clumps with dark green leaves that turn reddish during autumn.

Ludmila is easy to grow both in open ground and in containers. It prefers full sun or partial shade and well-drained soils – clay, sandy, even stony. The plant is frost-hardy down to –20 °C and can withstand low temperatures without losing color. Watering is recommended during the active growth period; the plant quickly loses color during drought.

The decorative properties of Ludmila make it an ideal element for gardens, parks, sloping areas, and rockeries. It pairs beautifully with annuals, fills gaps between perennials or conifers, and can be used in compositions with other herbaceous plants. Due to its resistance to urban pollution and winds, Ludmila is suitable for greening urban areas, alpine gardens, and container plantings.

Care for the plant is minimal: loosening the soil and removing weeds every 1–2 years, replanting if necessary. Possible diseases include fungal infections (mold spots on leaves) and bacterial root infections; prevention can be carried out using fungicides and insecticides. With proper care, the plant rarely suffers from diseases, maintaining its decorative appeal throughout the year.
