Crystal is a high-quality fescue, representing a perennial grass of the Festuca genus, distinguished by a compact height of 30 to 60 cm and a crown width of 40–60 cm. Leaves are thin, with a diameter of 0.4–0.5 mm, and flowers are elliptical or oblong light green in color, 4–6 mm long. The root system penetrates deeply into the soil up to 50 cm, providing drought resistance and good soil fixation.
Crystal grows quickly and does not require intensive care, making it an ideal choice for open areas with good drainage and a moderate climate. Sowing is carried out in spring after the soil has thawed at a density of 300–500 g/cent. During the summer period, regular watering during dry spells is recommended, as well as mowing the lawn every two weeks to maintain crown density. In the autumn, it is advisable to apply a complex mineral fertilizer in the first half of September.
This fescue has high resistance to diseases and pests: leaf rust, powdery mildew, helminthosporiosis, spiders and rodents. On dry areas, fungal diseases are possible, but overall the plant demonstrates good hardiness. Crystal is widely used as lawn grass in landscape design, as a grass mixture component, and as a fodder crop for livestock due to seed yield of 40–80 c/ha and feed value of 0.5–2.0 c/ha.
