Oatgrass "VEZELKA" is an annual variety of oats known for its high protein content and good disease resistance. The seeds have an average grain size (Class 1) and germinate quickly within 5-7 days after sowing. Under normal growing conditions, the yield reaches 120-140 g/m², and the seed survival rate is 70-80%. The recommended sowing density is 20-30 g/m², which allows the plant to be used as lawn grass or a forage crop.
For successful cultivation of oatgrass "VEZELKA", it is necessary to prepare loose, fertile soil with good drainage and pH 6.0-7.5. Seeds are sown at a depth of 0.5-1 cm at an air temperature from 18 to 25 °C (it can also be grown at lower temperatures up to 12 °C). After the first leaves appear, they are removed to avoid hindering stem growth. Irrigation is carried out regularly, but not more than two days in a row, especially during drought periods.
Key advantages of oatgrass include resistance to mold fungi (Rhizoctonia, Puccinia graminis) and pests (pollen mites). For prevention, regular soil loosening, fungicides at the first signs of disease, and insecticides upon detection of pests are used. Due to its high protein content, oatgrass is widely used as livestock feed, as well as in the food industry – for the production of flour, grains, porridges, and bread.
