The Loosinka variety of meadow fescue is a highly productive forage crop grown in temperate climates. Plants reach heights from 80 to 177 cm, with compact and dense stems that provide good structure for hay mass. Leaf lengths range from 13.2 to 31.5 cm, while the seeds have a light yellow color with possible violet hues; the weight of 1000 seeds is 2.1–2.4 g.
Key productivity indicators include dry matter – up to 164 kg/ha and seed – from 12.4 to 12 t/ha under optimal conditions. The variety is characterized by high heat resistance (99–100 %) and frost resistance, as well as drought tolerance, which makes it suitable for sowing in various climatic regions, including the Middle Volga region. The protein content of seeds ranges from 12.5 to 20 %, ensuring a high nutritional value of feeds.
Loosinka is resistant to major meadow fescue diseases: root rot, leaf spot fungi (Puccinia graminis), and damage to the root system due to waterlogging. With proper agricultural management – timely watering, mulching, and application of nitrogen fertilizers – the plant demonstrates stable productivity and low need for additional feeding. The crop is widely used as haymaking and pasture, as well as for creating lawns and forage fields.
The Loosinka variety is included in the state register of breeding achievements and supplied with full documentation confirming varietal purity and sowing qualities. Seeds are packed in big bags, which ensures ease of transportation and storage. Thanks to its characteristics, it is a reliable choice for farmers seeking to increase forage production efficiency at minimal cost on agrotechnics.
