Fescue Dark

A reliable resource for forage production

Meadow fescue 'Dark', developed by the Polish breeding house Grunwald Plant Breeding, is an ideal solution for farms focused on establishing high-quality, long-lasting pastures and harvesting protein-rich hay. Unlike many early-maturing varieties, 'Dark' exhibits excellent resistance to lodging and rapid regrowth after cutting, which is essential for multi-cut management systems.

Agronomic potential

The primary focus of this variety is to establish a dense, productive sward with high palatability for livestock. Meadow fescue is widely recognized for its adaptability to temperate European climates, and 'Dark' effectively utilizes this genetic strength:

• Growth vigor: Develops intensively in the early stages, effectively suppressing weeds within a grass mixture.
• Nutritional value: High sugar and protein content make 'Dark' a valuable component of cattle rations.
• Adaptability: Performs well under conditions of temporary moisture excess and handles the temperature fluctuations typical of the spring season.

Who should choose the 'Dark' variety?

This variety from Grunwald Plant Breeding is optimal for farmers engaged in intensive livestock farming. Thanks to its ability to form a thick, resilient turf, 'Dark' not only ensures high yields of green mass but also aids in improving soil structure. It achieves its best results on moderately moist soils. It should be noted that the variety is demanding regarding nitrogen fertilization: to maximize yield potential, timely fertilizer application after each cut is recommended.

If you are looking for a reliable 'workhorse' for your pasture rotation that guarantees predictable results over several years of operation, 'Dark' is a sound investment in your farm's forage supply.
