Description RIPARIA
Blue Fescue (Festuca glauca) – a low-growing perennial plant with a height of 25 to 50 cm, usually grown as a seedling. Leaves are narrow, grey-green in color, grow in dense tufts forming small bushes. Flowers in mid-summer with grey-green soft panicles on a straight stem; after flowering the plant usually dies and withers, but with proper care can retain its shape for several years.

Blue Fescue is widely used as fodder grass for livestock, as well as a decorative element in landscape design. In agriculture, it is valued for its high yield and drought resistance. The plant is planted from seeds or seedlings in soils with good drainage, pH 5.5–7.0, at temperatures from +10 to +25 °C. Requires regular watering and nitrogen fertilization.

The most common diseases of blue fescue are powdery mildew (Podosphaera), rot fungi (Rhizoctonia), and viruses causing leaf spots. With proper care and prevention of harmful organisms, the plant remains healthy. Blue fescue can be used as fodder for livestock, as well as a decorative grass in parks and gardens.
