RAHAT-LUKUM

The 'Rahat-Lukum' carrot variety is a medium-early, super-sweet variety with cylindrical, blunt-ended roots measuring 16-18 cm in length and weighing between 110 and 180 g. The flesh is characterized by its red-orange color, juiciness, and sweet taste, containing a high amount of carotene—up to 20 mg per 100 g of raw material. The dry matter content is 13.7%, and the total sugar content is 7.2%, making this variety particularly attractive for fresh consumption and the preparation of sweet juices and purees, especially recommended for baby food.

The variety is distinguished by stable high yield, excellent taste qualities, good marketability, and storability of roots. Rahat-Lukum carrots are resistant to cracking and bolting, ensuring product preservation during storage and transportation. Thanks to these characteristics, the variety is suitable not only for fresh consumption but also for canning, freezing, and for sale as bunch products and for winter storage.

For successful cultivation, sowing is recommended in late April to early May in well-moistened, loose, and fertile soil with a sowing depth of 1.5-2 cm and a planting scheme of 4 x 20 cm. To accelerate germination and retain moisture, seeds can be covered with a non-woven cover material. An important stage is thinning seedlings to a spacing of 5-7 cm to form large and uniform roots. Regular irrigation, soil loosening, and fertilization are required during the vegetation period, while fresh organic fertilizers are not applied. For early production, sowing under snow is possible in late October to early November.
