Description QUEEN OF AUTUMN
Queen of Autumn carrot is a late-maturing variety with a maturation period from 110 to 130 days. The root crops have an elongated-conical shape with a pointed end and a rich orange color; fruit length varies from 18 to 28 cm, while mass reaches 100-250 g. The variety is characterized by high sugar content — sugar content reaches 11%, and the pulp is juicy and without bitterness. Thanks to these qualities, the carrot is excellent for making juices, salads, and hot dishes. The fruits are well preserved and transported; under cool storage conditions, they can maintain their taste and market qualities for up to 9 months, making the variety in demand for long-term storage. Queen of Autumn is distinguished by high resistance to unfavorable weather conditions, including the ability to withstand light frosts down to -4 degrees, which allows for cultivation in regions with unstable climates. The variety shows good germination on light, loose, and moist soils, preferring sunny areas with nutrient-rich soil cleared of weeds. To achieve maximum yield, which can reach up to 9 kg per square meter, timely moderate watering, loosening, and application of mineral fertilizers are required. Lack of moisture negatively affects the taste and marketability of root crops, making them limp and not sweet. Growing Queen of Autumn carrots requires adherence to certain agronomic techniques. Seeds are sown to a depth of 2-3 cm with a distance between beds of 20-40 cm. To improve germination, the sowing material can be soaked in purified or melted water beforehand. Thinning is done twice: the first time on the 10-14th day after sowing, leaving about 1 cm between shoots, and the second time 2-2.5 weeks later, increasing the distance to 5-7 cm. Regular watering (up to twice a week), loosening, and top dressings contribute to the formation of a quality harvest. Thanks to its undemanding nature and stable yield, the variety is popular among both farmers and gardeners.
