Carrot DELICATESNA

Consistency and Quality: The «Delikatesnaya» Advantage

The «Delikatesnaya» carrot variety is a testament to the reliability of traditional breeding expertise. Developed by the Vavilov Institute of Plant Genetic Resources (VIR), this variety has been specifically engineered to offer a consistent, dependable harvest. Unlike complex modern hybrids that may require high-tech greenhouse conditions, «Delikatesnaya» excels in diverse field conditions, making it a staple for those who value predictable results.

Key Specifications

• Maturation Time: A mid-season variety reaching maturity in 90–100 days. This makes it an excellent choice for a reliable late-summer or early-autumn harvest.
• Morphology: Features a classic, uniform cylindrical shape, typically 15–20 cm in length. The intense orange-red hue is a marker of its high carotene content.
• Usage: This is a true all-rounder, designed equally for processing (juices, purees) and for long-term winter storage.

Strengths and Considerations

The standout feature of «Delikatesnaya» is its culinary profile. Its high sugar content and crisp, dense texture ensure it remains flavourful even after months in storage. The sturdy structure of the root also makes harvesting easier, reducing the risk of damage.

However, successful cultivation requires attention to detail. This variety responds well to consistent soil management; in compacted or overly nitrogen-rich soils, the roots may lose their ideal symmetry. Proper thinning and consistent soil aeration are necessary to achieve the best appearance. It is an excellent variety for the attentive gardener rather than the «plant-and-forget» type.

Who Should Choose This Variety?

«Delikatesnaya» is best suited for both small-scale home growers and market gardeners who prioritize nutritional value and longevity in storage. If you need a reliable carrot that won't lose its vibrant color or sweetness by the end of winter, this variety is a proven choice.
