Karamba

Carrot variety Karamba is a mid-season hybrid of the Nantaise variety type, intended for cultivation in open ground. The plant forms a spreading rosette with long green leaves of medium dissection. The root is cylindrical, 18-21 cm long and 3-4 cm in diameter, with a very smooth surface and a slightly tapered base. The internal color of the root is bright orange, indicating a high carotene content – up to 12.7 mg per 100 g of raw material. The weight of the root varies from 102 to 223 g.

The variety is distinguished by high taste qualities and an excellent aroma. The dry matter content is 10.4-12.6%, and total sugar content is 5.2-7.1%, which makes carrot Karamba especially attractive for fresh consumption, processing, and winter storage for up to 4-5 months. The commercial yield of the variety is in the range of 331-631 c/ha, which is 30-74 c/ha higher than the standard Nantes 4 and corresponds to the level of the standard Dordogne F1. The maximum yield in the Moscow region reached 1137 c/ha, while the output of commercial products is 74-91%.

For successful cultivation of carrot Karamba, it is recommended to sow in very moist soil while observing optimal planting density to avoid overcrowding. Important agronomic measures include timely loosening of interrows, regular watering, and root top-dressing, which contributes to the formation of high-quality and large roots. Thanks to its characteristics and high yield, the variety Karamba is an excellent choice for farmers and gardeners focused on obtaining a high-quality product for fresh consumption and long-term storage.
