Description Bangor F1
Carrot Bangor F1 is a mid-season hybrid of the Berlin type, developed by the Dutch seed company Bejo Zaden. This variety is characterized by high yield and is adapted for cultivation in central and southern regions of Ukraine. The vegetation period is approximately 105-111 days, after which up to 6-7 kg of root crops can be harvested per square meter. Carrots prefer light, moist soils such as sandy loam and clay loam, as well as well-lit sunny areas. For successful cultivation, regular watering, soil loosening, application of mineral fertilizers, and thinning of seedlings are required, which promotes the development of a strong leaf canopy and prevents overcrowding. The fruits of Bangor F1 have a cylindrical shape with a blunt tip, length from 16 to 20 cm, and diameter up to 3-4 cm. Their weight varies from 140 to 300 grams, and their color is a vibrant orange, indicating a high carotene content — up to 10%. Sugar content reaches 6%, and dry matter content — 10-10.5%. The flesh is juicy, aromatic, and sweet, making the carrots suitable for fresh consumption as well as for preparing children's purees, juices, frozen vegetable mixes, and various culinary dishes. Due to its strong leaf canopy and resistance to breakage, the hybrid is suitable for mechanical harvesting. The variety is characterized by high resistance to diseases and pests, particularly carrot fly; if necessary, special treatments or ash are recommended. Seeds are characterized by high germination — up to 86%, and the optimal seeding density is from 0.9 to 1 million seeds per hectare. Carrot Bangor F1 retains its market and taste qualities well during transportation and can be stored for 4-5 months, making it a profitable choice for commercial cultivation and long-term storage.
