Description Nairobi
Nairobi F1 carrots are a mid-early hybrid of the Nantaise type, with a maturation period of approximately 120 days. The root crops have a cylindrical shape with a smooth surface, bright orange color both outside and inside. The average fruit weight varies from 100 to 200 grams, and the length reaches up to 20 cm. The foliage is characterized by intense green coloring and an upright form. This hybrid is distinguished by high resistance to cracking and good impact strength, making it ideal for mechanical harvesting, washing, and peeling. Nairobi F1 carrots are characterized by excellent taste qualities, dry matter content from 11.3% to 13.6%, total sugar content from 7.0% to 9.2%, and carotene content up to 17.8 mg per 100 g of raw product. The juice yield from 1 kg is 453 ml, indicating high fruit quality. The hybrid yield is high, reaching from 326 to 683 centners per hectare, which is 85-175 centners higher than standard Nantaise 4 and Losinoostrovskaya 13 varieties. Maximum yield in some regions reaches 1206 centners per hectare, with a marketable product yield from 81% to 93%. The hybrid is resistant to diseases such as alternaria and cercospora, contributing to a stable and quality harvest. Due to its good keeping quality, the carrot maintains its marketable appearance for several months, allowing it to be used both for fresh consumption and winter storage. High suitability for mechanized collection and processing makes Nairobi F1 a convenient choice for commercial production. This hybrid, of Dutch origin from the company Bejo Zaden, is popular due to the combination of high yield, excellent taste qualities, and resistance to unfavorable conditions.
