Yurkovskaya huckleberry is a selection from the Central Botanical Garden of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The shrub is of medium height (30–40 cm), slightly spreading, yet vigorous and winter-hardy. The berries are large, weighing 0.6–1.2 g, round-oval in shape, dark blue with a waxy bloom, with delicate skin and a sweet-sour taste with no noticeable aroma.
Yurkovskaya is characterized by high yield: on average 0.6–1.3 kg of berries per bush, ensuring a stable output with regular fruiting. The shrub is self-fertile, disease-resistant, and capable of withstanding harsh climatic conditions thanks to its high winter hardiness.
The berries do not drop or crack, maintaining density and juiciness even after long-term storage. Thanks to these characteristics, the variety is suitable both for the consumer market and for processing into jams, juices, and other products.
