Liberty

Liberty blueberry is a late-ripening industrial variety developed in 1997 and included in the register of selection achievements since 2017. The bushes of this variety are tall, reaching up to 1.7 meters in height and about 1.5 meters in width, with strong vertical branches and dense, dark green glossy oval leaves. Flowering begins in mid-May, and the fruiting period lasts from August to the end of September. Liberty is a self-pollinating variety, but cross-pollination significantly increases yield and berry quality.

The berries of Liberty blueberry are large, round, dark-blue with a waxy coating. Average fruit weight ranges from 1.5 to 2.8 grams. The skin is firm, the flesh is dense, with a distinct aroma and balanced sweet-sour taste, making them an excellent dessert product. Sugar content reaches 14.2%, acidity — 1.1%, and ascorbic acid — 18.1%. Berries easily detach from the cluster, store and transport well without losses, making the variety commercially viable.

Yield per bush can reach 4–8 kg by the fourth year of growth. Liberty blueberry is suitable for fresh consumption, freezing, jam, jelly, yogurt, and other desserts.
