Denise Blue

Blueberry variety Denise Blue (Denise Blue) is a large-fruited medium-term variety developed in Australia through crossing wild blueberry species. The plants of this variety are medium-sized and compact, reaching a height of 1.5–1.6 meters. The flowers are pink, giving the plant a decorative appearance during blooming. The berries are large, round, with a firm skin and light-blue bloom, reaching up to 20 mm in size and 1.8 grams in weight. They possess high commercial quality, sweet taste with a pleasant mild acidity, and good storability. Denise Blue is characterized by high yield, which can reach 7–8 kg per bush with pollinators present. Harvesting occurs in the second decade of July. The variety is self-fertile, making it easy to grow both in amateur conditions and on plantations. The plant exhibits high frost resistance, tolerating temperatures down to -34 °C, as well as resistance to common diseases such as anthracnose and septoria. Care for Denise Blue blueberry does not require special efforts. The plant has minimal requirements: regular watering during the summer, soil loosening twice per season to a depth of about 8 cm, fertilization in spring, summer, and autumn, as well as early spring pruning. It is recommended to mulch the soil once every 2–3 years to maintain optimal growth conditions. Due to these features, the variety is suitable for cultivation under various climatic conditions and provides a stable and high-quality yield.
