Spartan

Spartan blueberry is a high-yielding and resilient shrub with upright stems and dense canopy. The bushes are highly frost-resistant, tolerating temperatures down to -30°C, making them suitable for cultivation in various regions, including central and southern areas of Ukraine. The plant prefers well-drained acidic soils and is ideal for gardening, landscaping, and as a living hedge.

The berries of the Spartan variety are large, reaching 18-20 mm in diameter and weighing about 2 grams. They have a sky-blue or light-blue color with a characteristic waxy bloom and oval or round shape. The flesh is firm, juicy, with a tart-sweet flavor and a bright pleasant aroma. Thanks to their firm skin, the fruits withstand transportation well, making this variety convenient for commercial cultivation and sale.

The ripening period of the Spartan variety falls into the early to mid-season range — from late July to early August. Yield per bush ranges from 4.5 to 6 kg of berries per year. The bushes exhibit high resistance to diseases and pests, reducing the need for intensive treatment and improving fruit quality. All these characteristics make Spartan blueberry an excellent choice for gardeners seeking delicious, large berries with good storability.
