Blueberry variety Brigitta Blue is a tall, late-ripening variety that ripens from late July to the second decade of August. The bushes are strong, upright, reaching a height of 1.6-1.8 meters, ensuring abundant and regular yields of 4-6 kg per mature plant. The leaves are dark green and elongated, and the berries, of medium size — about 15 mm in diameter — have a blue color with a slight waxy coating. The skin tightly protects the juicy flesh, which has a pleasant dessert-like sweet-tart flavor, making the berries especially attractive to consumers. High transportability allows maintaining berry quality during long-distance transport. The Brigitta Blue variety is distinguished by high cold resistance and adaptability to growing conditions, though it prefers acidic peat substrates and sunny areas protected from strong winds. These characteristics make it suitable for various regions with appropriate soil conditions. Due to its disease resistance and adaptability, this variety is widely used in commercial berry farming and hobby cultivation. Brigitta Blue was developed in 2006 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as part of a breeding program aimed at creating blueberry varieties with improved characteristics. This variety is the result of crossing Bluecrop and Berkeley and is named after Brigitta von Bieberstein Koch-Weser, a notable figure in the cranberry industry. Thanks to its combination of high yield, large fruit size, and disease resistance, Brigitta Blue has gained wide recognition and popularity among gardeners and blueberry producers.
