Bluegold

Bluegold is a medium-ripening, cold-resistant shrub with upright branches and dense foliage, reaching a height of 1.2 to 1.5 meters. The bushes require regular thinning of branches to maintain plant health and increase yield. This variety is distinguished by high resistance to fungal diseases and frost down to −32–35 °C, making it suitable for cultivation throughout Ukraine. Bluegold berries tolerate drought well, although prolonged lack of moisture may negatively affect plant development.

The berries of the Bluegold variety have a dense structure, dark blue color, and medium size with a mass of about 2.5 grams. They are sweet, aromatic, quickly turn dark blue when ripe, and possess excellent flavor qualities. Berries ripen in early August, making this variety medium-early. Yield per bush reaches 7–9 kg, and berries maintain good storage quality in a refrigerator for more than a month and have high transportability, not falling off the bush.

Bluegold berries are rich in vitamins C, B1, B2, PP, organic acids, sugar, carotene, pectic substances, and iron salts. Due to the presence of ascorbic acid and other beneficial compounds, iron from berries is absorbed by the body significantly better than from medicinal preparations. These properties make blueberries not only delicious but also beneficial, suitable for fresh consumption as well as for preparing various dishes and preserves.
