Description
Green Dwarf is an annual dwarf basil variety with fine, bright green leaves and compact bushes reaching up to 30-35 cm in height. The plant is characterized by an intense aroma with a slight spiciness that persists even in dried form. Thanks to its decorative qualities and small size, this basil is ideal for growing in pots and on window sills, allowing fresh herbs to be used year-round.
This basil variety is widely used in cooking and canning. Fresh and dried leaves are added to salads, marinades, tomato sauces, and used to flavor meat and fish dishes. Green Dwarf contains a large amount of essential oils with beneficial properties: it stimulates digestion, whets the appetite, and boosts overall body tone. Basil pairs well with other spices such as rosemary, savory, marjoram, parsley, and mint, expanding its usage possibilities in various dishes.
Growing basil requires warm conditions and regular care. Seeds germinate at a soil temperature of not lower than 10 °C, while the optimal temperature for growth is 20-22 °C. The plant needs well-drained fertile soil, regular watering, and fertilization. The harvest is collected at the beginning of flowering, allowing for 2-3 harvests per season. For winter growing, the plants are dug up and kept in pots in a light and warm room. This approach ensures a constant supply of fresh aromatic greenery.
