Basil CLOVE AROMA

Genetic Architecture and Profile of 'Gvozdichny Aromat' Basil

The 'Gvozdichny Aromat' (Clove Aroma) variety from Npk Nk Ltd is a breeding solution focused on the intensive accumulation of essential oils within the vegetative mass. Unlike standard green varieties, this basil relies on the accumulation of anthocyanins in the leaf plate, which determines its deep purple-red color. This high pigment concentration not only provides an aesthetic appeal but also indicates a rich content of antioxidants.

Key Vegetation Characteristics

• Compact Growth Habit: The plant height ranges between 20–30 cm, making it an optimal choice for container gardening, windowsill cultivation, or high-density open-field planting.
• Leaf Morphology: The large leaf size increases total photosynthetic surface area, ensuring rapid biomass gain even under limited light conditions.
• Aromatic Profile: The name fully reflects its chemical composition. A high content of eugenol gives the plant a distinct clove aroma with a pronounced spicy undertone, making it a preferred ingredient for marinades and meat dishes.

Practical Cultivation Insights

This variety, developed by Npk Nk Ltd, is specifically engineered for home cultivation. Technically, the plant features a short cycle to technical maturity, allowing for multiple harvests per season provided the temperature remains above +20°C. Its large-leaved structure necessitates regular root watering; if moisture is insufficient, essential oils evaporate more rapidly, and the flavor profile loses its intensity. The variety is adaptable to various substrates, although utilizing humus-rich soil mixes is recommended to fully unlock its flavor potential.
