DWARF is a dwarf variety of leaf basil that forms compact, round mini-bushes up to 30-35 cm high. The plant has small, rich green leaves that are aromatic and possess a mildly sharp taste. Thanks to its size and decorative appearance, this basil is ideal for growing in pots on a windowsill, as well as in open beds and on balconies. The plant requires a bright and warm place, regular watering and fertilizing, which allows for using fresh greens for a long time.
DWARF is widely used in cooking: its fresh leaves are added to salads, used as a natural flavoring for marinades, tomato sauces, meat and fish dishes. Thanks to its spicy and mildly sharp taste, basil goes well with other spices, such as rosemary, savory, marjoram, parsley, coriander, mint and tarragon. It is part of spice mixtures that replace black pepper and aromatic compositions, making it a universal ingredient for various dishes.
For successful growing of DWARF basil, it is recommended to sow seeds in warm soil at a temperature of no lower than 15 °C, with a sowing depth of 1-1.5 cm and a distance between plants of 15-25 cm. The plant prefers fertile, well-drained loam or loamy sand soils. During germination and until the beginning of flowering, basil needs sufficient moisture. Harvesting begins before and at the beginning of flowering, and during the season you can get 2-3 harvests. To continue growth in winter, plants are dug up, trimmed and kept indoors, which allows growing basil all year round.
