Basil CITRUS FRESH

More than just basil

The 'Citrus Fresh' variety from the 'Heterosis Breeding' (Geterozisnaya Selektsiya) company represents a breakthrough in spice plant cultivation. Unlike traditional purple or Genovese basil, this hybrid was developed with a specific focus on a unique aromatic profile. The originator, under the leadership of Vadim Petrovich Fedyakov, aimed to create stable, high-yield plants perfectly adapted to specific climate conditions.

Aromatic Profile and Culinary Versatility

The core feature of 'Citrus Fresh' lies in its name: it is not just an herb, but a complex composition of lemon notes integrated into the classic basil flavor profile. Its small-leaf structure is highly efficient for culinary use, as the leaves require minimal chopping and add an aesthetic touch to gourmet presentations.

• Salads: Adding fresh leaves brings a summer lightness to vegetable medleys.
• Beverages: This variety is ideal for iced teas, lemonades, and signature cocktails where the citrus notes shine best.
• Preserving: The spicy aroma pairs perfectly with vegetable marinades, adding a piquant touch without the need for excess vinegar.

Cultivation Highlights

The plant grows to a height of 50–60 cm and thrives both in open soil and as an indoor plant on a windowsill. 'Citrus Fresh' is a sun-loving crop; to achieve the most intense flavor and dense foliage, it requires maximum sunlight exposure. A high concentration of essential oils ensures the flavor remains vibrant and rich throughout the entire growing season.
