To obtain earlier flowering or commercial biomass, seeds are sown in nutrient-rich substrates in greenhouses 4–6 weeks before planting in the final location. The sowing depth should not exceed 0.5–1 centimeter, as the seeds are small and require shallow placement.

The optimal planting scheme involves row spacing of 30–45 centimeters, ensuring free airflow and facilitating weeding. Reseda does not tolerate overcrowded crops, so thinning is mandatory after seedling emergence.

To ensure a continuous supply of raw material, winter sowing is practiced in regions with mild climates, allowing seedlings to emerge immediately after snowmelt. During winter sowing, seeds are planted at a depth of 1.5 centimeters.

Seedlings appear 10–14 days after sowing, provided there is sufficient moisture in the topsoil. During the initial growth period, the crop requires careful control to keep the field free of weeds.

The plant belongs to the Resedaceae family and is an annual or biennial herbaceous crop with characteristic spherical inflorescences. In the wild, it is found primarily in the Mediterranean basin, preferring open rocky or sandy slopes.

The crop has high light requirements: under shading, stems become elongated, and the intensity of essential oil accumulation in the green parts noticeably decreases. Open areas with full sun exposure throughout the day are preferred.

Soil preferences include light, well-drained loams or sandy soils with a neutral to slightly alkaline reaction. Reseda globulosa negatively reacts to stagnant moisture in the root zone, which can lead to root rot infections.

An important success factor is the calcium content in the soil. On acidic soils, preliminary liming is required, as a deficiency of lime significantly slows down the development of vegetative mass and the formation of full inflorescences.

Cultivation techniques include regular soil loosening to ensure root aeration. During dry periods, moderate watering is necessary, though the plant shows good resistance to short-term droughts due to its taproot system.

Economic use of Reseda globulosa is focused on the perfume and cosmetic industry, where its unique, delicate fragrance is highly valued. The biomass is used to extract essential oil, which has a high market value.

The yield of green mass depends on planting density and nutrient levels. With proper agricultural practices, the output of dry raw material ranges from 1.5 to 3 tons per hectare, depending on the growing season.

The intensity of essential oil accumulation peaks during the full flowering phase, which is a critical moment for starting harvest work. Delaying the harvest leads to a decrease in the concentration of essential components.

A secondary direction of use is the plant's value as a honey plant. Reseda globulosa is an excellent nectar source, providing stable forage for bees during the summer period, which increases the overall efficiency of the agroecosystem.

Seed production of Reseda requires collecting seeds in several stages as they mature. The average seed yield is 200–400 kilograms per hectare, provided that drying and storage conditions in a cool place are maintained.

The primary danger for young plants is the flea beetle, which can destroy crops during the cotyledon phase. Control measures include contact insecticides or preventive dusting with wood ash.

Under conditions of high air and soil humidity, the crop is susceptible to powdery mildew. A symptom is a whitish coating on the leaves, which spreads rapidly, suppressing photosynthesis and reducing the quality of the essential oil raw material.

Root rots caused by fungi of the genus Fusarium occur when drainage is compromised. Prevention involves crop rotation and avoiding overwatering on heavy clay soils.

Aphids can settle on flower stalks, sucking sap and deforming the inflorescences. For pest control, the use of biological agents or soap solutions is recommended during the early stages of infestation.

Harvesting raw materials for essential oils is carried out during the mass flowering phase when the content of aromatic substances is at its maximum. Cutting is performed in the morning after the dew has evaporated but before the intense midday heat.

To preserve the quality of the essential oil, the cut mass must be processed within a few hours of harvesting. If rapid distillation is not possible, the raw material should be subjected to quick drying in the shade with good ventilation.

When used as an ornamental or honey crop, cutting is performed gradually as inflorescences fade. This stimulates the plant to produce side shoots and extends the duration of the crop's function.

Seed crops are harvested when the capsules acquire a brownish tint. It is important not to allow over-ripening to avoid self-seeding and harvest losses during mechanized harvesting, as the seeds are very small.

Post-harvest processing includes cleaning the seeds from impurities using special sieving equipment and bringing them to a standard moisture content of 10–12 percent. Storage is carried out in paper or fabric bags in dry warehouse facilities.
