Variety distinguishing features. Variety — submedicum. Plants of medium height (68 — 80 cm). Anthocyanin coloration of leaf tips of medium intensity, long, serrated only at the upper part. Two-row ear, with strong waxy coating, cylindrical, loose (11.8 nodes per 4 cm), medium length. Sterile spike occupies position from parallel to slightly deviated. Flower scales finely wrinkled, with weakly expressed venation, gradually transitioning into the awn. Grain elliptical, yellow, membranous. Main awn long-haired. 1000-grain mass 48 — 50 g.
Biological characteristics. Maturity group — medium-early, vegetation period 80 — 90 days. Resistant to lodging (8.5 — 9.0 points), moderately resistant to drought (6.3 — 7.2 points). The variety is a source of group resistance to infection by powdery mildew (8 points) and downy mildew (7 points).
Agronomic characteristics. Semi-intensive variety. Recommended seeding rate 4.0 — 4.5 million viable seeds per hectare. Standard agronomy for the growing zone, early sowing.
Under production conditions, yield reached 5.55 t/ha (Kupiansk DSCS, Kharkiv region) and 7.31 t/ha (DPS 'Red October', Kharkiv region). Potential yield 8.5 — 9.5 t/ha. Grain has high brewing qualities: extractability — 81.3%, protein content 10.3 — 11.0%, starch content 61.0 — 62.5%, purity 99.0%, diastatic power 284 WK, friability 86.8%, β-glucan content 127 ppm. Yield of conditioned seeds 75 — 85%.
