Barley Variety 'Efekt': A Proven Choice

Developed through a partnership between the Central Institute of Innovative Agricultural Technologies and the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute of the NAAS, the 'Efekt' barley variety is a staple of Ukrainian agricultural breeding. It combines high-yield potential with structural reliability, making it a dependable choice for farmers who prioritize consistency in their harvests.

Agronomic Characteristics

As a two-row spring barley variety, 'Efekt' is designed for efficiency. The plants grow to a height of 70–80 cm, providing a stable stand that minimizes lodging risks. A key feature is its large grain size, with 1000-seed weight reaching 48–50 grams, which is a major advantage for commercial performance.

• Climate Resilience: With a cold hardiness rating of 8 out of 9, this variety exhibits remarkable plasticity in varying weather conditions.
• Growth Cycle: A vegetation period of 80–90 days allows for optimal moisture management during the spring season.
• Disease Resistance: The variety is genetically fortified against major pathogens, specifically loose smut, covered smut, and stem smut.

The development of 'Efekt' involved a team of leading Ukrainian agricultural scientists, ensuring that the final product addresses the specific biological threats found in regional soils. By balancing an intensive growth type with robust natural defenses, 'Efekt' has established a reputation for stability, helping producers secure yields even in challenging agricultural years.
