Originator — Institute of Plant Growing named after V. Ya. Yur'ev, NAAN.
Variety distinguishing features. Variety — Medicum (medicum). Plants of medium height (80 — 100 cm). Strong anthocyanin pigmentation of awns tips, long, smooth awns. Spike is two-rowed, has strong waxy coating, cylindrical, loose (11.8 nodes per 4 cm), medium length. Sterile spikelet occupies position from parallel to slightly deviated. Flower bracts are finely wrinkled, with weakly expressed venation, gradually transitioning into awn. Grain is elliptical, yellow, with glume. Main awn is long-hairy. 1000-grain weight 47 — 49 g.
Biological characteristics. Maturity group — medium-early, vegetation period 84-94 days. Resistant to lodging (7.1-9.0 points), very resistant to drought (9.0 points). Variety is a source of complex resistance to pathogens causing stone head (8 points), powdery mildew (7 points), and internal stem pests (8 points). Productive tillering 1.8 stems.
Agronomic characteristics. Intensive type variety. Recommended seeding rate 4.0 — 4.5 million viable seeds per hectare. Standard agronomy for the cultivation zone, early sowing dates.
In the competitive variety trial conducted by the Institute of Plant Growing named after V. Ya. Yur'ev, NAAN, the yield of this variety exceeded the standard 'Galaktik' by 0.99 t/ha (20%) at a level of 5.83 t/ha. Potential yield 8.5 — 9.0 t/ha. Protein content in grain 11.5 — 14.6%. Yield of conditioned seeds 75 — 85%.
