Winter barley Kozvan

Stable Yields in Challenging Climatic Conditions

The «Kozvan» variety, developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute, is designed for farmers who prioritize consistency and grain quality. Unlike many intensive foreign hybrids, «Kozvan» demonstrates exceptional adaptability for spring barley, maintaining a high 1000-grain weight (48–50 g) even under moisture stress.

Key Advantages

• High Winter Hardiness: With a score of 8, this variety reliably withstands harsh conditions, making it an excellent choice for regions with erratic spring temperatures.
• Agronomic Performance: A plant height of 80–90 cm ensures lodging resistance, which is critical for mechanized harvesting and intensive management practices.
• Crop Protection: Genetic resistance to major diseases, including powdery mildew and various smut pathogens, significantly reduces the need for expensive fungicide applications.

Why Choose Kozvan?

«Kozvan» is ideal for growers balancing feed quality (12% nitrogen content) with total yield. Its short growing season (90–100 days) allows the crop to avoid peak summer droughts, providing a competitive edge across Southern and Eastern Ukraine. Despite its two-row head type, the variety exhibits stable tillering, which effectively compensates for seeding density requirements.
