YUGO-VOSTOCHNAYA 2

The spring soft wheat variety Yugo-Vostochnaya 2 is a medium-late ripening and medium-height large-grained variety created at the Yershov experimental station of irrigated agriculture. It belongs to the botanica variety Lutescens and is characterized by a large, multiflower spike with a red semi-elongated grain. Plants have a semi-erect bush type, medium height, light green leaf coloration and a weak waxy bloom. The variety's vegetative period is from 79 to 96 days, which allows it to be successfully grown in various regions, including Region VIII of Russia and the Western Siberia region. Yugo-Vostochnaya 2 is distinguished by high adaptability and resistance to adverse conditions such as drought and high temperatures. The variety demonstrates high yield—up to 6.84 t/ha under optimal conditions and medium yield of about 24.2 c/ha in the Western Siberia region. It is resistant to lodging and damage by diseases such as brown leaf rust and powdery bunt, ensuring production stability. Moreover, the variety has high baking qualities and is included in the list of high-quality wheat. Yugo-Vostochnaya 2 is recommended for cultivation in various climatic zones, including the South Forest Steppe of the lowlands of Omsk Oblast, Saratov, Samara, and Orenburg regions. Its seeds are in high demand in farms of various forms of ownership due to the combination of high yield and grain quality.
