Description STEPNOY YANTAR
STEPNOY YANTAR is a durum winter wheat (Triticum durum Desf.) variety intended for cultivation in the agro-climatic conditions of the North Caucasus region and the Southern zone of the Rostov region. It is a mid-early variety with a vegetation period ranging from 207 to 278 days, featuring a moderately tall plant with a height of 81 to 98 cm and a semi-upright inflorescence. The awn is weakly developed, with sparse pubescence on the upper node and a moderate waxy bloom on various parts of the plant. The ear is pyramidal, dense, white in color, of medium length, with white awns that are longer than the ear at the tip. The grain is semi-elongated with a short awn. The variety is characterized by resistance to lodging, brown and yellow rust, powdery mildew, septoria, and hard head smut, ensuring yield stability under unfavorable conditions. Winter hardiness and drought resistance are at the standard level, making it a reliable choice for regions with a variable climate. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 39 to 47 grams, indicating good quality of seed material. The recommended sowing rate is 4.5-5.0 million viable seeds per hectare. STEPNOY YANTAR has satisfactory pasta qualities and a high protein content in the grain - about 14.37%, which corresponds to or exceeds the standards of the Kristella variety. The grain differs in high vitreousness (89%), natural weight of 813 g/l, and gluten of II quality group. The potential grain productivity reaches 11.2 tons/hectare, while the average yield in the region is about 44.2 centners/hectare, with maximum indicators up to 80.7 centners/hectare, confirming the high productivity of the variety. Thanks to its characteristics and resistance to diseases, the variety is widely used for grain product production and recommended for sowing on a high agro-technical background.
