AGAT DONSКОЙ — a variety of hard winter wheat (Triticum durum Desf.), characterized by medium maturity and high resistance to lodging. It is recommended for cultivation in the Pridnieper and Southern zones of the Rostov region, the Krasnodar Krai, and the Republic of Adygea. The variety is distinguished by its resistance to major diseases such as brown and yellow rust, powdery mildew, and smut, ensuring yield stability under various climatic conditions.
The Agat Donskoy variety was bred using intraspecific stepwise hybridization, utilizing the VNIIZK 70/96 breeding line and the Ukrainian variety Aloy Parus. It possesses high winter hardiness, which is practically on par with the best domestic varieties, as well as high resistance to regional drought types. In terms of resistance to lodging, the variety significantly exceeds standard indicators. The average yield of the variety over seven years of competitive trials was 6.82 t/ha, which is 1.09 t/ha higher than the standard. Grain quality meets the requirements of Russian GOST 52554 for hard wheat, featuring high protein and gluten content, along with good pasta-making properties, including color, strength, and cooking time.
AGAT DONSКОЙ is suitable for cultivation after fallow and the best non-fallow predecessors, making it a universal and profitable choice for agricultural enterprises. High productivity, disease resistance, and resilience to adverse weather conditions, combined with excellent grain technological qualities, make this variety attractive for the production of high-quality hard wheat used in the food industry.
