Description Amber
Amber — a variety of hard wheat, available in two types: winter and spring. Winter Amber wheat is a medium-early variety with a vegetation period ranging from 207 to 278 days. Plants are medium-height, 81 to 98 cm tall, with semi-erect stems and weak pubescence. The ear is pyramidal, dense, white, of medium length. The grain is semi-elongated or elongated, white, with a short awn. The 1000-grain weight ranges from 39 to 47 grams. The variety is resistant to lodging, drought, and winter-hardy at standard level. It is recommended for cultivation in the North Caucasus region, including the Azov and Southern zones of Rostov Oblast, and is included in the State Register for the Ural region. Amber demonstrates high yield: average yield in the North Caucasus region reaches 44.2 centners per hectare, in Rostov Oblast — 45.0 centners per hectare, and maximum yield recorded in Krasnodar Krai reached 80.7 centners per hectare. The potential grain productivity reaches 11.2 tons per hectare. The pasta qualities of the variety are rated as satisfactory and good, with protein content in the grain at standard or higher than the Kristella standard — around 14.37%. The grain meets GOST requirements for hard wheat regarding vitrification, naturalness, protein, and gluten content. The variety is resistant to brown and yellow rust, powdery mildew, septoria, and hard head, ensuring stable yields and product quality. For sowing, a seed rate of 4.5–5.0 million germinating seeds per hectare is recommended; optimal sowing dates depend on the cultivation region. Amber is suitable for cultivation on a high agro-foundation, enabling maximum potential realization. Due to its characteristics and disease resistance, the variety is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain high-quality grain with good technological properties.
