Wheat Peribonka

Practical potential of Peribonka spring wheat

Selecting spring wheat seed today is driven by the need to balance high yield with harvesting efficiency. The "Peribonka" variety, developed by Cerela, serves as a key tool for agronomists aiming to minimize risks in intensive cereal production.

The primary value of this variety lies in its morphological traits. A plant height in the range of 90–100 cm makes the crop ideal for operation with modern harvesting machinery. In volatile climatic conditions, lodging resistance becomes a defining factor: even during heavy rainfall during grain filling, "Peribonka" maintains a vertical position, which is critical for reducing losses per hectare and ensuring the quality of marketable grain.

Agronomic implementation scenarios

• Optimizing the harvest cycle: The medium-height structure of the plant allows combines to operate at higher speeds without the risk of clogging the header with excessive green mass.
• Crop stability: Due to its good lodging resistance, the variety is suitable for regions with a high risk of squally winds and torrential rain, ensuring predictable logistics within the farm.
• Technological efficiency: This variety/hybrid, bred by Dominique Lanoie (Cerela), is designed as a stable foundation for farms that invest in mineral nutrition and require guaranteed results without unpleasant surprises like crop lodging.

The use of "Peribonka" is justified in farms where a reliable variety with a predictable response to agronomic operations is required. It is an excellent choice for those who prioritize ease of harvesting and the commercial appearance of the crop, while minimizing the need for complex, additional anti-lodging treatments.
