Description MIP Roxolana
MIP Roxolana — this is a high-yielding winter wheat variety, registered in 2022 and developed by the Myronivs'k Institute of Wheat named after V.M. Remesla of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. The variety is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Ukraine, including steppes, forest-steppe zones, and Polissia, which indicates its adaptability to different climatic conditions. MIP Roxolana is characterized by its medium maturity, cold resistance, and drought tolerance, making it a reliable choice for farmers facing unstable weather conditions. This wheat variety is distinguished by its high resistance to lodging, shattering, and germination of grains in the ear, as well as protection against a broad spectrum of diseases, including powdery mildew, root rots, brown rust, leaf septoria, Fusarium ear blight, and hard smut. Thousand kernel weight reaches up to 52 g, and grain density is 794 g/l. The crude protein content ranges from 13.5–14.2%, and the crude gluten content is 27.6–28.5%, ensuring good and excellent milling and baking properties. The variety responds well to high levels of mineral nutrition, enabling stable high yields under proper agronomic practices. The optimal sowing period for MIP Roxolana falls between late August and early October. Considering current climatic changes, such as global warming, frequent droughts, and shifts in hydrothermal conditions, it is important to conduct scientific research to refine sowing dates and adapt agronomy to specific growing conditions. Delaying sowing dates toward later dates is also associated with the use of non-traditional predecessors in crop rotation, which requires additional analysis to maximize yield and production efficiency.
