LG Ayrton is an early-maturing winter wheat variety developed by Limagrain breeders for cultivation in Central-Southern and Central-Northern regions of Ukraine. This variety is distinguished by high productivity with a yield potential of 9 to 12 tons per hectare. The wheat has medium protein and gluten content, ensuring good grain quality for various purposes. The ear is glabrous, smaller than average in size, and the thousand-grain weight is also slightly below average.
The LG Ayrton variety exhibits high winter hardiness (about 6.5 out of 9), lodging resistance, and good tillering (both rated at 8). Special attention has been given to drought resistance, rated at 9-10 points, making this variety particularly suitable for regions with variable weather conditions. Additionally, the variety shows moderate resistance to diseases, including leaf septoria, yellow and brown rust, Fusarium head blight, and powdery mildew, contributing to stable yields.
LG Ayrton is easy to grow and adapted to various soil-climatic zones of Ukraine, including Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipro, Donetsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Poltava, Sumy, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv regions. Thanks to its agronomic traits and high resistance to adverse factors, this variety is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to achieve high-quality wheat yields.
