Chainmail is a variety of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) with high agronomic and biological characteristics, recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the Steppe of Ukraine and the North Caucasus region. This variety is characterized by early maturity with a vegetation period of about 281 days and high yield potential, reaching 80-100 c/ha, with maximum yields in some regions reaching up to 11.37 t/ha. The thousand-grain weight varies within 40-45 g, indicating high-quality grain belonging to the group of valuable wheats.
Chainmail exhibits high resistance to various stress factors and diseases, including brown rust, powdery mildew, and fusarium. The variety shows high drought tolerance (8 out of 10), winter hardiness, as well as resistance to lodging and shattering. Additionally, it demonstrates enhanced competitiveness against weeds, facilitating crop management and improving cultivation efficiency.
Agronomically, the variety is versatile and well-adapted to both conventional and intensive cultivation technologies. Optimal sowing dates are from September 15 to October 15, with a seeding rate of 5.5-6.0 million germinating seeds per hectare. Chainmail is successfully grown after both optimal and mass predecessors, allowing maximum expression of its yield potential and grain quality.
