The Odessa 161 winter soft wheat variety is a modern, high-yielding variety developed at the Selection-Genetic Institute of UAAN. It belongs to the semi-intensive group and has a high genetic yield potential, reaching 60-75 centners per hectare, with some data indicating up to 11-12.5 tons per hectare. The variety is characterized by good grain quality meeting the requirements of strong and premium soft wheat varieties, with protein content of 13.8-14.1% and gluten content of 28.8-29.5%. The 1000-grain weight varies within the range of 38-44 grams.

Odessa 161 exhibits high resistance to adverse environmental factors, including drought, heat, frost, and winter hardiness. The vegetation period is approximately 280-287 days, ensuring stable crop development and maturation. The variety shows high resistance to major wheat diseases, such as brown and stem rust, powdery mildew, fusarium diseases, and leaf septoria.

This variety is versatile and adapted for cultivation in various agroclimatic zones, including steppe and forest-steppe areas, as well as on poor soils.
