Description Krizhinka
Wheat variety Krizhinka is a mid-season cereal variety recommended for cultivation in the Polissia and forest-steppe regions. This variety was developed jointly by the Mironovskiy Institute of Wheat named after V.M. Remesla of UAAN and the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of NAS. Krizhinka is characterized by high yield potential, reaching 8.8 tons per hectare, as well as high protein content — 14.7%. Thousand-grain weight is 41 grams, indicating good grain quality. Sowing rate is 4.5–5.0 million viable seeds per hectare, and the variety responds well to increased doses of nitrogen fertilizers, allowing for higher yields.

Krizhinka variety exhibits high resistance to multiple diseases and stress factors. It is resistant to lodging, shattering, root rot, septoria, fusarium, brown rust, and powdery mildew. Such resistance makes it a reliable choice for agricultural production under adverse conditions. Moreover, the variety belongs to those demonstrating high resistance to brown rust, confirmed by domestic breeding research. This trait is especially important for creating new breeding materials and enhancing crop resistance to pathogens.

In breeding work, Krizhinka variety is used as a source of disease resistance, particularly to brown rust, due to the presence of genes conferring resistance. Studies show that wheat-rye hybrid varieties, including Krizhinka, exhibit enhanced disease resistance due to gene transfer from rye. This makes the variety a valuable material for further improvement and creation of new hybrids with improved agronomic traits and disease resistance.
