Wheat Kirena

Yield stability in extreme conditions

The winter soft wheat variety "Kyrena" from NVF Driada is the top choice for agronomists who prioritize predictability. Over years of field trials across Ukraine, this variety has proven itself as a reliable performer, capable of delivering results even with minimal precision in protection technology. The main advantage of this wheat is its strong genetic resistance to fungal diseases, which allows farmers to significantly reduce spending on fungicide applications.

Agronomic potential and specifications

• Yield potential: 8–9 tons per hectare. In real-world practice, while following crop rotation and applying base rates of mineral fertilizers, the variety consistently hits the 6–7 ton mark.
• Cultivation technology: The density of productive stems is 4.5–5.0 million units/ha. Distinct tillering allows for a reduction in seeding rates without sacrificing head density.
• Vegetation: A 90–100 day growth period helps the crop avoid peak summer droughts, which is crucial for southern and central regions.

Field resilience

Perhaps the most appealing aspect for the operator is the variety's resistance to lodging. This wheat stays upright even after heavy rains and high winds, simplifying the harvesting process and minimizing losses. Immunity to septoria, fusarium, leaf rust, and loose smut is not just a marketing claim in the patent, but a genuine barrier against pathogens. The grain is large, with a 1000-seed weight of 40–45 grams, ensuring excellent germination energy and uniform emergence.

For agricultural holdings and private farms, the "Kyrena" variety is valued for its behavioral consistency. This is a classic bearded wheat that requires no specialized harvesting equipment or unique drying conditions. It is a stable, proven result from the breeders at Driada, which solves crop protection concerns and ensures grain quality.
