DMC Gonor — a high-yielding, mid-season, simple hybrid of sweet corn with FAO 340, developed by the breeding company MAIS. It is intended for cultivation in all climatic zones of Ukraine, including the steppe, forest-steppe, and Polissia. The vegetation period ranges from 104 to 109 days depending on the region, with a potential yield of up to 181 ц/ha, while actual yields vary from 102 to 136 ц/ha. The plants have a toothed yellow-orange kernel type with 14–16 rows per ear, ensuring high product quality and quantity. The minimum soil temperature for sowing is 10–11°C, allowing the hybrid to successfully start under various conditions.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to adverse environmental factors. It shows high drought and heat tolerance, as well as good cold resistance, making it a reliable choice for different regions of Ukraine. Additionally, DMC Gonor is resistant to major corn diseases such as downy mildew and gray leaf spot, and offers effective protection against pests, including corn borer. High resistance to lodging (9 points) helps preserve yield and simplifies harvest.
Recommended cultivation zones include the steppe, forest-steppe, and Polissia, where the hybrid shows stable performance. Yield data from various regions of Ukraine confirm its performance: Ternopil Oblast — 12.9 т/ha, Zalishchichi — 12.2 т/ha, Skvyra — 10.2 т/ha, Katerynopil — 12.1 т/ha, Mena — 13.6 т/ha. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, DMC Gonor is an optimal choice for farmers seeking high and stable yields of sweet corn.
