Wheat variety Hyst has been included in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2013 and is recommended for cultivation in the steppe zone of the country. This variety belongs to the steppe, southern ecotype, which is characterized by high drought resistance and heat tolerance, making it especially valuable for regions with adverse climatic conditions. The average yield of the variety over test years was 7.65 tons per hectare, and in dry years, the yield exceeded that of standard varieties by 0.8-0.95 tons per hectare. The genetic potential of the variety reaches about 10 tons per hectare. Plants are short-stemmed, 87-95 cm tall, with good cold resistance, resistance to lodging and shattering. Variety Hyst exhibits tolerance to major fungal diseases of stems and leaves, including powdery mildew, rust, and scab, ensuring stable yields and reducing the need for frequent fungicide applications. Grain quality belongs to the group of strong wheat varieties: protein content ranges from 13.4 to 14.2%, gluten content is 29.6-31.2%, and flour strength reaches 390-430 units. The overall bread score produced from this wheat is 5 points, indicating high product quality and suitability for the bakery industry. Thus, wheat variety Hyst represents a high-yielding and resilient variety that combines high yield, resistance to adverse climatic factors and diseases, as well as excellent baking qualities of grain. These characteristics make it an optimal choice for farmers working in Ukraine's steppe regions, aiming to obtain a stable and high-quality harvest.
