Wheat Perlyna Lisostepu

Stable yields in a changing climate

The 'Perlyna Lisostepu' wheat variety, developed by the Bila Tserkva Research and Breeding Station, is the choice for farms focused on predictability and reliability in their winter crop rotation. This soft wheat variety is engineered for high-quality grain production under intensive farming practices, evidenced by its yield potential of 8–10 tons per hectare. With its genetically inherent resistance to major pathogens, including brown rust and powdery mildew, this variety significantly reduces the need for intensive fungicide applications.

Practical agronomic insights

• Stand density: It produces 4.5–5.0 million productive stems per hectare, ensuring optimal crop density and efficient soil moisture management.
• Plant morphology: The plant height ranges from 80 to 100 cm, contributing to excellent lodging resistance and simplifying harvesting operations, even under high-yield conditions.
• Sowing strategy: Ideally suited for the Forest-Steppe regions of Ukraine, it offers high adaptability to temperature fluctuations and spring dry spells.

Agronomists favor this variety for its balance between vegetative mass and reproductive organs. When managed with appropriate mineral fertilizer rates, the variety responds exceptionally well to nitrogen applications, which is vital for achieving high-grade grain quality. It serves as a robust tool for optimizing crop rotation and improving the profitability of wheat production in regions with moderate-continental climates.
