Yasochka

Yasochka — a winter soft wheat variety developed by crossing RM Lutescens 147 with the variety Napіvkarlik 3. Since 2006, it has been included in the Ukrainian Plant Varieties Register and is recommended for cultivation in the Forest-Steppe zone. This variety is distinguished by high drought resistance and resistance to major diseases such as brown rust, powdery mildew, fusarium of the ear, and root rots, ensuring stable yields under adverse climatic conditions.

Yasochka wheat is characterized by high productivity with a potential yield of up to 8.53 tons per hectare. The grain of this variety is valued for its high quality: protein content ranges from 13.5–14%, and gluten content from 27–32%. These indicators ensure the production of high-volume bread — 900 to 1000 ml per 100 grams of flour — making the variety popular in the bakery industry.

Winter hardiness studies conducted in the Poltava region under severe meteorological conditions in 2010 and 2011 showed that Yasochka retains approximately 74.6% of sown area after winter, indicating good resistance to low temperatures and winter stress. This confirms the variety’s suitability for cultivation in regions with harsh winters and variable climates, ensuring reliable and stable yields.
