Gentleman

Gentleman — a new winter wheat variety of bread type, registered in Germany in 2020. It is characterized by high and stable yield performance under both moderate and intensive cultivation technologies, making it versatile for various agrotechnical conditions. The variety is well adapted to medium and good soils and is recommended for optimal and drought-prone growing zones due to its high drought and winter hardiness, which exceeds average levels.

Gentleman produces a stable yield with good grain filling, resulting in high-quality grain. The grain belongs to group A/B, characterized by an attractive and well-aligned appearance with low awn content. Quality parameters include protein content around 13%, crude gluten 25%, natural moisture 798 g/l, and thousand kernel weight around 48 grams. The variety exhibits high growth energy, ensuring rapid and uniform emergence in autumn, as well as the possibility of planting after late predecessors both in autumn and spring.

The Gentleman variety is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and grain shattering, as well as good resistance to a range of diseases, including stem base weakness, powdery mildew, and Fusarium head blight. It is less resistant to yellow rust and leaf septoria, but overall demonstrates reliable protection against major phytopathogens. Thanks to these characteristics, the variety is suitable for cultivation under various climatic conditions and ensures stable quality and quantity of yield.
