Genichanka is a winter soft wheat variety developed by the scientific and production company 'Driada, LTD' and included in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2019. The variety belongs to the early-maturing group and is characterized by high winter hardiness, as well as drought and heat tolerance. Genichanka exhibits increased resistance to diseases such as brown rust, powdery mildew, sooty mold, septoria, and fusarium of the ear. In addition, the variety shows high resistance to lodging and shattering of grain, which contributes to maintaining yield and quality.
The ear of the variety is white in color, medium in length (about 10 cm), medium density, and pyramidal in shape. The glumes are ovate, and the grain is oval and red in color. The awns are distinctly white and serrated, measuring 6.5–7.5 cm in length. Genichanka belongs to the intensive type of varieties with a high yield potential, exceeding 100 c/ha. The grain exhibits high quality characteristics: protein content is 13.7–14.3 %, gluten content is 28.3–29.4 %, flour strength reaches 400–480 units, loaf volume is 1400 cm³, density is 780 g/l, and glassiness is 97.0%. These characteristics make Genichanka a strong wheat variety suitable for producing high-quality flour.
The Genichanka variety is widely used in agriculture to obtain stable and high yields under various climatic conditions. Due to its resistance to adverse factors and diseases, as well as the high technological quality of the grain, it is a profitable choice for farmers oriented towards intensive agriculture and the production of high-quality bread and bakery products.
