EKADA 109

EKADA 109 is a variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) characterized by medium maturity and medium height. The plant is semi-upright, with a vegetative period ranging from 74 to 89 days. The weight of 1000 grains varies between 32-46 grams, indicating high grain quality. The variety was created under the ecological breeding program 'EKADA' with the participation of several research institutes of the Volga region and has a pedigree of 512-95 x Kharkovskaya 12. It exhibits high plasticity and adaptability, responds well to intensification of cultivation, which allows for stable and high yields under various climatic conditions. EKADA 109 is distinguished by its resistance to major leaf diseases, including septoria, to which it shows high resistance. In addition, the variety is moderately resistant to hard smut and brown rust, moderately susceptible to powdery mildew, and susceptible to root rots. It is also resistant to lodging at the level of standard wheat varieties and possesses medium drought-resistant properties, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in various regions with variable weather conditions. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Belgorod and Nizhny Novgorod regions, the Republics of Tatarstan and Mari El, as well as in the forest-steppe zone of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The yield of the variety varies depending on the region and growing conditions, reaching from 19.8 to 69.4 centners per hectare. EKADA 109 has good technological and baking qualities of grain, making it in demand for the production of quality flour and bakery products.
