Leningradskaya 6 is a variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) characterized by medium maturity and medium height. The plant has a semi-erect bush and a cylindrical ear of medium density with white coloration. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 37 to 46 grams. The variety is distinguished by a strong waxy coating on the ear and the upper internode of the straw, as well as medium and strong degrees of waxy coating on the sheath of the flag leaf. The vegetative period ranges from 84 to 103 days, which allows it to mature simultaneously with the KVS Torridon variety. Leningradskaya 6 is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Chelyabinsk, Omsk, and Ivanovo regions, as well as the Central region. The variety demonstrates high yield: in the Central region, the average indicator reaches 33.6 c/ha, with a maximum yield of 62.5 c/ha recorded in the Moscow region. In the Urals region, the yield is about 14.1 c/ha, and in the West Siberian region, it is 31.4 c/ha. Leningradskaya 6 is resistant to lodging, although in some cases it lags behind the standard by up to one point. It possesses good resistance to brown and stem rust, septoria, and powdery mildew, while being moderately resistant to hard head smut but highly susceptible to powdery head smut. The baking qualities of the variety are rated as excellent or at the level of satisfactory filler, which makes it in demand for the baking industry. Moreover, Leningradskaya 6 is promising for use in the technology of ethanol production. When processing wheat of this variety, a wash with an alcohol content of about 10.0 vol.% is obtained, and the alcohol yield reaches 66.24 ml per 100 g of starch, which corresponds to industrial norms. The introduction of an enzyme preparation of proteolytic action into the saccharified must from Leningradskaya 6 allows increasing the alcohol yield to 70.31 dal per ton of starch. These indicators make the variety attractive not only for agriculture but also for the alcohol industry, expanding its application possibilities.
